About the practice
About Us
At Zeiss Physical Therapy, we believe recovery should feel personal. We're a Somers, NY practice built on a simple idea: when you give patients real one-on-one attention and treatment plans made just for them, they heal better, faster, and for the long haul.
Every patient gets focused, hands-on care from Russell himself, with an evidence-based plan designed around their specific goals — whether that's recovering from surgery, easing chronic back or neck pain, regaining balance, or getting back to the sports and activities they love.

The personal practice
Why Russell founded Zeiss Physical Therapy
After more than a decade in the field — working his way from staff physical therapist to clinic director and area manager — Russell wanted to build a practice around the things that actually make patients better: one-on-one time with a Doctor of Physical Therapy, sessions that are never double-booked, and an assessment happening every single visit.
At Zeiss Physical Therapy, the person treating you knows your name, your history, and your goals — and stays with you for the full session, every session. Every plan is personalized, and treatment adapts as you do.
One-on-one with your therapist
When you book with Russell, you get Russell — no aides, no assistants, no hand-offs.
Never double-booked
Every appointment is fully yours. Your session is protected time, focused entirely on your recovery.
Assessment every single session
Your plan is reassessed and refined at each visit so treatment keeps pace with your progress.
A plan built around you
Personalized, hands-on care shaped by your goals, your history, and your daily life — never a cookie-cutter routine.
Treatment philosophy
A few simple beliefs
Ask Russell about his approach and he'll tell you it comes down to this:
Treat the root cause, not just the symptoms.
Lasting recovery means understanding why the pain started in the first place.
One-on-one care matters.
When you book with Russell, you get Russell — focused, hands-on attention for the entire session.
Empower the patient.
His goal isn't to keep you coming back forever. It's to give you the tools and strength to manage your own health for the long run.
This is where Russell's McKenzie Method and vestibular rehabilitation training really shine. Both approaches are built around finding the true source of a problem and teaching patients how to take control of their recovery.

Where it all began
The story that started it all
Every physical therapist has a story about what pulled them into this work. For Russell, it started in his grandmother's living room.
When Russell was young, his grandmother went through a knee replacement. He watched her struggle, then slowly rebuild her strength and independence with the help of a physical therapist — and something clicked.
Seeing someone he loved get her life back through movement and patient, hands-on care left a lasting impression.
That early spark led him to volunteer in physical therapy settings as a teenager, where he discovered he didn't just admire the profession — he wanted to spend his life doing it.
